1860 - Jane was born in Cedarville, Illinois, in 1860. Her father was a senator and a rich man. She wondered why people lived in poverty from her childhood.
1877 - Jane went to the Rockford Female Seminary School. She graduated with high grades and dreamed of going to medical school.
1881 - Jane's father became ill and died. She went to the Women's Medical Cillege of Philadelphia. She had surgery to help her from back pain, but had to drop out of medical school.
1883 - Jane traveled in Europe. She visited Toynbee Hall in London. There, she saw workers helping the poor. Jane thought it was a great idea to help poor people.
1889 - Jane and her friend Ellen Starr rented a house in the Chicago slums. They opened Hull House in 1889, and helped poor women, children and immigrants.
1931 - She also fought for equal right, clean work places, and world peace. In 1931, Jane Addams won the Nobel Peace prize for the first time as American women.
1935 - Jane helped people at Hull House up to her death in 1935. She made our world a better place especially for the poor, women and children.
